Guild Wars is played by people in many, many different timezones. It'd be extremely impractical to try and implement events so that an event started at a convenient time for people in each of these timezones. And really what is a convenient time anyway? I'm sure a lot of (working) people would prefer weekends and not on a Friday night.

I'd imagine that someone would be around to check that the event started okay, and they would prefer to do it at a reasonable time locally, e.g 2pm instead of 2am. This may not always translate into a convenient Australian time.

Is it just me or do only Australians complain about this? I blame Johnny Howard.

Yes, all Australians complain about this.

I've had guildmeetings go wrong because I requested that we'd have it on MY (Australian) Sunday, and the meetings were held on the US Sunday.. which in turn, was MY Monday, and somehow, I don't think my work would appreciate me playing gw during work hours.

The real problem is that if someone says something starts on Friday, everyone thinks Friday, forgetting that we're ahead of you guys and consequently, we get dissapointed when we find out yous meant our Saturday and your Friday.

btw, being vague on the log in screen and saying 'late Friday night' causes major confusion.. it IS late Friday night here and early SATURDAY morning in NZ already.. GMT time would be nice, so I don't get confused?

Australia always gets left out of planning. There's not much you can do except grin and bare it. Australia is a pretty small market for this game (due in no small part to a complete lack of any form of advertisement) so planning to keep Australians happy while not making the territories which are more valuable to them happy just isn't a good idea. An Aussie server won't happen for that reason (not a very big game over here) as well as the fact that running a datacenter here with Australias 'behind 10 years' ISP's, would be stupidly expensive.

I live in Aussie since may.
Sure having events starting at late Friday night, or early Saturday morning is annoying, but good thing is they last till 7:00 pm (thanks to daylight saving)

I think aussie should be on us server, and had store currency in aud instead of pounds
It seems for Annette we are still an english colony

gabazieute, what gets me is that Australia is an english colony, but New Zealand is part of the EU.. at least, according to the payment options given by anet when buying more slots and stuffs.

And no, there are not enough of us here to make a separate server viable.. unless.. we REALLY don't want favour?

Perhaps an Australian District would be enough. I'm an aussie but I have English mates that I play with so I dont want to miss out on that. Although I would like to be apart of an Australian community of some sort, so perhaps just adding a new district could be good enough.

Korea and Japan look a lot closer than US or Europe. An Australian/NZ district on those servers would make a lot more sense than on the US or Europe servers.

That does kinda suck, but with how busy DoA is going to be, you might not be missing much. It's going to be hot news for a few days (at least!), and there's going to be new people coming in at massive rates over the next few days. Don't worry

There is a large demographic in the eastern timezones, and I doubt Anet is out to get any of it.
